Our Pastor
Elder Melvin Ransom was born and raised in Sparta GA. He attended and graduated from the public schools in Hancock County, Sparta, GA.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in April 1978 and completed Basic Training at Fort Jackson, SC. He graduated from Advanced Individual Training (Fort Benning, GA) in 1978. His military service assignments include: The 2nd Infantry Division (Korea), 101st Airborne Division, and Air Assault (Fort Campbell, KY). In 1982 he attended Advanced Individual Training (Fort Gordon, GA) and later was a member of the 51st Signal Battalion (Stuttgart, Germany), Drill Sergeant Duty (Fort Knox, KY), 440th Signal Battalion, (Darmstadt, Germany) 369th Signal Battalion (Fort Gordon, GA), 307th Signal Battalion (Korea), First Sergeant, Headquarters/Alpha Company, and 442nd Signal Battalion (Fort Gordon, GA).
Elder Ransom civilian education includes: An Associate Degree in Applied Science, from Georgia Military College in 1993; Bachelor of Science Degree from Brenau University in 1995 and a Master of Theology Degree, from Christian Life School of Theology International in 2007.
His professional training includes: Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy (Juvenile Correctional Officers), Division of Family and Children Services (Child Protective Services Unit), and Juvenile Detention Counselor. Currently he is a Training Specialist at (Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion, Fort Gordon, GA).
Elder Ransom is the founder and Pastor of Liberty Temple Ministries Church of God in Christ, Dearing, GA. He has held many positions in the church. They include: Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Pastor Aide, Millen District Sunday School Superintendent, Secretary of the Millen District; Former President of the Northern GA II Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Auxiliaries in Ministry (AIM), and National Jurisdictional AIM Committee Representative for South East Region.
On October 29, 1977 he married the love of his life, Miss Jacquelyn A. Hill. They are blessed with two children: Ja’orice Mykel and Jacquetta. Now they have a much loved daughter-in-law (Christy) and five grandchildren: Anthony M., Ja’Orice Mykel Jr, Ameerah, Addai and Miles.
Elder Ransom is saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. His personal goal is to offer Christ to everyone he meets thus expanding the kingdom of God.
